英国/德国的 Boney M 演唱组是70 - 80年代非常引人瞩目的一个迪斯科节奏的流行演唱组，乐队成员来自四面八方，有的来自西印度群岛，有的来自牙买加。制作人是弗朗可.菲林(Frank Farian)。

提到 Boney M，你可能会陌生，但是说起《巴比伦河》，它的旋律你一定能哼上一两句。这首歌引领了1970年代末中国青年一代的“时尚旋风”，启蒙了那个时代的“喇叭裤舞会文化”。
 

对 于20多年前的中国青年而言，Boney M 的歌曲可谓再熟悉不过。当年没有迪厅，按捺不住快乐欲望的年轻人就在自己家里，悄悄地随着“板儿砖”录音机或者双喇叭录音机里播放的《巴比伦河》, 《单程车票》和《爸爸 真酷》歌曲的旋律快乐起舞，甚至由此带来了“黑灯舞会”的流行。随后，这股迪斯科旋风越刮越猛，也带动了一股时尚潮流，“迪斯科舞会”逐步公开化，迪斯科 这个名词也从那个时候延续至今。
 

1977年他们以一曲“Daddy Cool”红极一时，从欧洲演出到美国。由于他们身上特有的迪斯科韵味，又正好赶上当时美国风行迪斯科热潮，因而大受欢迎。他们擅长将一些老歌改编成迪斯 科节奏的舞曲，而给他们改编的老歌总是别具一格，重放异彩，一下成为热门歌曲，令歌迷拍案叫绝。

《巴比伦河》创作背景

巴 比伦河在美索不达米亚平原，位于伊拉克和 伊朗之间。据说《巴比伦河》的曲调最初是牙买加的民间音乐，1969年歌手Brent Dowe, Tony Brevette, and Trevor McNaughton根据《圣经》之赞美诗137：1填词，歌词的大意是：公元前586年，奴役者命令流放在巴比伦的犹太人一起唱歌。但此时此刻犹太人那 有心情唱歌，因为他们的圣城耶路撒冷已被敌人占领，要唱的话，也只能是大声唱出自己的心声－－自由。1972年《巴比伦河》收录在音乐片《the Harder they come》, 该片向世界展示了优美的牙买加的民间音乐。1978年，BONEY M 首次演唱《巴比伦河》（歌词略作改动），在欧洲乐坛引起巨大轰动，单曲销量创下了英国 唱片史上的纪录。随后两三年，他们的许多歌在世界各个排行榜占有一席之地。
