This is clearly a racist remark. 2. School authority should be notified in written form. They are typically very scared of liabilities from such disputes. 3. Once the school authority is notified, you can discuss with the teacher whether you should prepare a little speech in front of the class with your kid to address the history of racial discrimination again Chinese (the Chinaman Exclusion Act, etc.), and what expressions are considered derogatory to Chinese (chinks, chinaman, etc.). ---------------------------------------------------------- 回复:孩子在学校里被白人孩子叫chink boy !我该怎样做 文章来源: tiger91698 于 2005-09-22 09:56:37 My daughter had this experience on school bus when she was in 4th grade. I wrote a letter to her teacher. My daughter went to her teacher with a friend of hers as wittness. The teacher called the boy's father to school at lunch time. In her opinion, using the "C" word to Chinese is as serious as using the "N" word to African American. The boy appologized to my daughter in front of the teacher and his father.A policeman who happened to be at school thst day also talk to the boy and told him that this is a very serious issue. No such thing happened to my children after that. I am very grateful to the teacher. She also talked to my daugter about being proud of her own race and reacting to discriminative acts. My daughter is now very confident and openly proud to be Asian American. She also became a solid Republican because of this teacher. 精彩帖子推荐:
