Brakework results confound own

Q:

I own a 94'Honda Prelude SI with 200,000km.I recently had a brake job done at Honda dealer. They replaced the front and rear pads and resurfaced the brake rotors. the morning after, I noticed the ABS light stayed on. Dealer said it had nothing to do with the brake job they judt did. After a disgnose, they said the ABS pump had failed. Now I havea glowing ABS light and no ABS. Couldthis have been a coincidence, or could it be connected with the brake job?

john

DEAR John : The ABS pump is a separate unit on your car. it is unlikely that the pump failure is to the service. You said the ABS LIGHT was NOT on when u left the dealership. It is possible that if they compressed all the calipers and pushd the brake fluid up into the master cylinder in place of opening the bleed screws, a small piece of contatmination could have gotten into the ABS pump system and prevented the  pump from opreating. Ask the dealer what method of fluid removal was used when compressing the brake calipers. If they sent all the brake fluid into the master cylinder, a full hydraulic bleeding may help. Either way, the dealer cannot be hold liable. Your brake system should work as a Honda without the ABS option. A piece of blak tape over the  ABS logo on the dash cluster is a common practice and it's almost free.
