In our life, surely there must be someone who influences you most. To me, my mom influenced all my life.

What was my mother like? Well, when you look at me, you can image what she looked like. I look like my mother so most of my mother’s friends can tell I am her daughter. She was of medium height and weight, a happy and humorous lady, she was quite easy going, and can get on well with anyone.

What made me feel proud of my mother? Well, there are numbers of reasons. But in my mind, I suppose there are some key features about her I would like to share with you today.

1.     My mother was the strict but kind lady. From my early childhood, she had to work very hard, as we were quite poor in the early ages. Some mothers became very impatient in poverty, but my mother was very strict with my study but never lost temper to me. In the past, it was very common in China for parents to teach the kids by beating. She was very nice to me, never beating me when I did something wrong. For example, when I was in the kindergarten, we were always forced to take a long nap during the noon time. I hated it very much because I could not fall asleep. So, one day I tried to escape from the kindergarten, but unfortunately, I was stuck between the school iron fences. The teacher pulled me back and called my mother to the school. I remembered the teacher was very angry, I was so scared and did not know what to do. I guessed my mom must beat me hard because I lost her face in the public. To my surprise, my mother never criticized me and tried to ask forgiveness from the teacher. From this event, I felt my mother really loved me. So, from then on, I never tried to escape again even though I still hated to sleep after lunch.

2.     My mum was a good cook. What does a good life mean? Good food was probably one factor. I was quite lucky, even our family was rather poor in the early years. But I had never been hungry. My mother was a very good cook. We grew different vegetables and tried to catch some fish from the field. From her skillful hands, we could always enjoy delicious dishes. Later when I went to college, my mother still cooked many good dishes and let me carry them back to school to share with my room mates. They all liked my mother’s cooking. The food was very delicious and healthy. Up till today, I still miss the food my mother cooked.

3.     My mother was honest, hard-working, humorous, and very easy going.

My mother was strong and she nearly took care of anything in my family. She went to work everyday, and worked very hard. She was a good example in the company. She was nice to any workmate. So she was quite popular among the staff. Her performance gave me a very good example to me. So after my graduation from school, I also worked hard and improved a lot.

4.     My mother was versatile, someone I admired dmuch.

It was never too old to learn. In my mother, I can tell she was alaways curious to any new things, she was always happy to try something new and respect my decision. She always treated me like her sister. So, the neighbors could see us both go shopping hand in hand quite often. She also would try to wear some new fashions.

So all in all, my mother influenced me most in my life. Just know, why did I used past tense to describe my mom? Unfortunately, my dear mother passed away last year. She has left me forever. That was a deadly strike in my head. Now, my mother was gone, but in my mind, I still remember her smiles, her encouragement, her food, her love… anything about her, because she was the dearest person in my life. So, I just want to say, Mum, I miss you, I love you forever!
