乐队的名字在英文中叫做Evanescence，中文媒体一般翻译做幻灭，其意思就是"某事物消失的过程和状态"。幻灭最成功的单曲叫做Bring Me to Life，这首单曲在全世界范围内受到了好评，并且曾经在美国Billboard最棒的100首歌中排名到第五。电影《夜魔俠》（Daredevil）中也用此曲作为音轨，除此之外还有另外一首脍炙人口的歌曲我的永生（My Immortal）。2004年的格莱美奖表彰了幻灭乐队做出的贡献：他们获得了最佳硬摇滚演出奖和最佳新人奖...

艾米(Amy Lee)是小石城出去的歌手，小学曾读Pulaski Academy。这也是儿子读的学校，也是他喜欢的歌手。听多了，也成了我喜欢的少有的几个英文歌手之一。她的歌"Bring me to life"是那种好象你半支脚进了地狱，或者好象在梦中想醒又不能醒那种状态。不过我最喜欢的还是上面这首"My Immortal"，也许这首歌更舒情些。不知你有没有注意到，美国的一些流行的乐队，如果是女的为主角，乐队名则以女主角的名字命名为多，而男主角的则一般不用自己的名字作乐队的名。幻灭就是例外之一。
