Grand Opening Festivities Leading Up to Kickoff (9/15/2006)
• Fri., Sept. 15, 6:00-7:15 pm, Block Party, Civic Center Plaza Festivities begin as the Stanford Yell Leaders, cheerleaders and Navy Band lead the community in a march starting at the corner of University Avenue an Emerson and ending at Palo Alto's Civic Plaza. Entertainment, contests, give-aways an special appearances from former Stanford football greats, the Navy "Leap Frog" Parachute Team and other dignitaries are scheduled to appear.
• Sat., Sept. 16, 5:30 pm, Pre-Game Ceremonies, Stanford Stadium 5:30 pm - Special Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at all gates. Some of the great players in Stanford football history will take part in a ribbon cutting ceremony that will take place at all gates prior to the opening of the New Stanford Stadium.
6:25-7:00 pm - Pre-Game Fesitvities Begin. U.S. Navy jet flyovers and a special entrance by the Navy "Leap Frog" Team will take place, followed by an all-stadium card stunt, which will require participation from every fan. Fans will also form a giant sized Cardinal ribbon card stunt throughout the stadium that will cascade onto the field. The opening ceremony will also include a performance by the Navy Band and a pyrotechnics display.
