Can you work with people around you? Can you handle difficult people? Do you have people-skill? Can you be tough and firm?
Management is about making it happen with people you have, letting them to carry out the workload. You, as a manager, must know how to deal with all kinds of people and know how to make it happen on time.
Many people like the position of a manager, but they don't have the skills.
If you can't be a manager, you certainly can't be in management.
Don't laugh at your manager for knowing less than you do, that's not the point. You should feel better that since you know more, you will have a job here.
