老马公司自掏腰包,维护正义,个人和公司都面对极大风险,甚至破产,实属不易。
SpaceX is not asking to recoup past expenses, but also cannot fund the existing system indefinitely *and* send several thousand more terminals that have data usage up to 100X greater than typical households. This is unreasonable.

In addition to terminals, we have to create, launch, maintain & replenish satellites & ground stations & pay telcos for access to Internet via gateways.
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 14, 2022
We’ve also had to defend against cyberattacks & jamming, which are getting harder.
Burn is approaching ~$20M/month.
SpaceX’s request is reasonable. Shouldn’t expect a private sec co. to continue to fund this for free forever. Do Lockheed, Boeing, Northrop, etc do their work for free? SpaceX was generous in donating what they did & they'll happily cont. to mfg terminals with gov money.@elonmusk https://t.co/WmC1WkWJur

“Starlink has been absolutely essential because the Russians have targeted the Ukrainian communications infrastructure,” said Dimitri Alperovitch, co-founder of the Silverado Policy Accelerator, a think tank. “Without that they’d be really operating in the blind in many cases.”

Strange that nothing was leaked about our competitors in space launch & communications, Lockheed & Boeing, who get over $60B …
— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) October 14, 2022
Wouldn’t be surprised to find this particular individual working there when he retires from DoD. Corruption at its finest.
Also, Starlink is still losing money! It is insanely difficult for a LEO communications constellation to avoid bankruptcy – that was the fate of every company that tried this before.

When asked what the goal of Starlink was at a space conference, I said “not go bankrupt”.
We’re just following his recommendation ????♂?
