Seligman, Arizona
Route 66, a legendary highway, started from Chicago, ended at Los Angeles, holds an important position in American history. It is called "the Mother Road" or "American Main Street". Built in 1926, Rt 66 played a significant role in the migration of population to California during the great depression era and the war effort during WWII. By 1985, the last section of Rt 66 was replaced by the new interstate freeway. The section in Arizona, running parallel to I40, is now the longest uninterupted stretch of Rt 66. |
