How to Get Out of a Speeding Ticket

(2012-11-21 11:52:20) 下一个

Thanksgiving is around the corner, so we made our bi-annual 12-hr trip to the Granna's this past Saturday for the holiday.

I have lead foot and it is especially hard for me to slow down driving through the mountains as sometimes we are the only car on the road. There is no reference for me to realize how fast I am driving if I don't pay special attention.

I was just telling my friends during lunch the day before the trip that I had never been picked up by a cop during our long bi-annual trips over all these years, and then of course I was pulled over this time. I actually saw the cop who just finished giving the ticket to a car but I thought I was fine driving at 80 MPH in a 70 MPH zone. Turned out I was in a 65 MPH zone according to the cop. Haven't been pulled over for so long, I was embarrassed especially it happened when the kids were in the car.

The cop asked me about my track record - when was the last time I received a speeding ticket. I told him I could not remember, probably about 15 years ago which was the truth. Surprisingly the cop seemed to be "impressed" and decided to just write me a warning letter and let me go.

After the cop drove away, Daddy made an inappropriate comment in front of the kids that "the cop let Mommy go not because she has good record but because she is cute". I could not believe he said that to the kids! I didn't want him to give the kids wrong ideas when it comes to dealing with the laws, so I said to him: "No, that's not true. He let me go because I have good track record!"

I was then warned by Daddy that I should be careful not to drive too fast as there were still 40 miles left before I drove out of the state where I just got the warning letter. I joked with the kids: "What if I get pulled over again by the same cop in the same state? I bet I won't be as lucky as this time."

"That would be a mess" Evan commented.

Olivia said something that made me laugh. "If that's the case Mom, you'd better be darn cute if you want to get out of a speeding ticket again."
