A Heads Up from Olivia about Being a Rebellious Teenager

Olivia and I were chatting randomly when she helped me cooking dinner today. At one point we touched the topic of rebellious teenagers. Actually not long ago when Daddy picked up Olivia from the summer camp, the Counselor was talking to Olivia about this and she told her that during certain time period of one's teenage years, the kids will think very highly of themselves, they think they know everything and their parents don't know anything. They can be rude to their parents and not listen to them and make them very upset.

So Olivia repeated all that to me and then said: "Mom, just so you know, if I grow up in a couple of years and become rebellious like that, just ignore me. I don't mean to behave like that and even if I am rude to you or dad, I want to let you know NOW that deep down I love you guys very much."

"Oh, that was a nice heads upJ, Olivia" I said to her with a smile, "Well, I guess you just try not to be rebellious and rude to us then."

"I will try but I don’t know if I can. Everyone has to go through that stage you know and since I have never been there, I just don't know if that's possible." Olivia tried to warn me.

"Okay, that's fine as long as you give it a try." What else can I ask right now? J

I then asked her: "Olivia, would you take care of me and Daddy when we get old? Do you think it is your responsibility to take care of us?"

"Of course I will take care of you guys when you are getting old. You are my mom and dad!" Olivia answered without any hesitation. Wow, how sweet!

"How would you take care of us then? Would you send us to nursery?" I asked.

"Well, no, not unless I have to. You guys can just live in this house or somewhere else and I will drop by everyday to cook for you, clean up for you, make your beds…that is if I live closeby" she explained.

Haha... thank you sweetie pie! That answer was more than what mom has hoped for J.
