Big Boy or Baby?

(2006-05-15 21:03:55) 下一个

Saturday morning, while we were cleaning the house, Daddy asked Olivia to help clean Evan’s bedroom.

Olivia asked: “Why?  Why Evan can’t clean his own bedroom?”

Evan has been very good at cleaning after him at daycare, the teacher has mentioned that to me many times. But at home, he is indeed a mess maker as he proudly announced to us numerous times.

Since we were trying to get out of the door for a play date Olivia and her friend had set up and it would probably take Evan forever to clean his room (actually Evan's never successfully cleaned his own room before), daddy said to Olivia: “Cleaning Evan’s room is helping others. Remember you need to work to buy the High School Musical DVD? Here is your chance.”

“O-kay.” Olivia replied reluctantly.

“And Evan doesn’t get any money.” Daddy added.

At this time, Evan, who was listening to the conversation between daddy and Olivia and has been recently claiming to me how a big boy he is now (when he told me this he would pull his shoulders back and stick his big tummy out), said to daddy: “Daddy, I do not need any money (meaning I do not have to clean my room). I am just a baby.”

“Oh, yeah? I thought you told me that you are a big boy now?” I said.

“No! I am just a baby and babies don’t need money.” He emphasized.
