A Good Day for Olivia (图)

Yesterday was a good day for Olivia.

First of all, when I picked her up for her first vision check, Ms. Sharon told me that she must be a good artist because she can draw a jaguar better than the teacher. Then we went to the other daycare where she started her Kindergarten to check her eye sight and both of her eyes had perfect vision (We signed up just prior to moving back to the old center).

Yesterday happened to be the portrait day at the daycare as well and while we were waiting in line for the vision check, we saw handsome Michael dressed up in a very nice red sweater in the portrait room waiting. Olivia and he kind of smiled to each other and then shyly moved their eyes away from each other.

After the vision check, we dropped by her old class. It was lunch time and Ms. Tanis was setting up the food around the two or three tables in the classroom where the kids were eating. She was so excited to see Olivia, giving her big hugs, telling her that she missed her and announced to all the kids: “Hey guys, look who is here!” Immediately a couple of kids stood up from their chairs and cheering: “Olivia! Olivia!” and some others stopped eating started screaming “Ah…” from excitement. There was one boy who even started to run around. Olivia felt so welcomed and smiled at all of her old friends, apparently very happy to see them too.

When we stopped by the table where two of her closest girl friends, Olivia K. and Jennifer, were eating, Ms. Tanis said “Olivia, your friends still talk about you. We miss you so much. Olivia K. felt so sad after you left, she even drew a picture of herself crying. Is that right, Olivia?” Olivia K. (who was Olivia’s best friend) nodded her head quietly as she stared off at the table. She seemed so sweet and vulnerable, my eyes welled up immediately. I bent down on my knees and gently rubbed her back telling her that we miss her very dearly too.

On the way out of the daycare, we bumped into Michael again who was on his way back to the classroom, this time a lot closer, almost next to each other. Again, very briefly, the two smiled shyly to each other, then one looked down on the floor and the other turned to looked at the side wall and passed each other without slowing down their steps at all. Maybe I am bad, but I just thought that was such a cute scene to see. I asked Olivia afterwards “So you still like Michael?” She nodded shyly. “Why don’t you say hi to him?” and the answer was “Because we are both very shy.”

寒枝 回复 悄悄话 Oh my God!
They are such sweet and cute little things! I can't believe they are already acting like in their first love, knowing that they are only 5, although I can imagine Olivia doing it so vividly in my mind. She is going to grow up to be a very delicate girl!
