Biography

David Haubert earned a bachelor's degree from California State University, Northridge, and a master's degree from UCLA. He became president of the Alameda County Mayors Conference and began serving on the Alameda County Transportation Commission, the Livermore-Amador Valley Transportation Authority, and the Alameda County Local Area Formation Commission.[1]

美国加州阿拉米达郡郡长大卫?郝伯特，在第五届中美友城大会上致辞。

对于中美之间是否存在误解，加州阿拉米达郡郡长大卫．郝伯特直言，「我们不需要『脱钩』，相反我们需要交往。我们不需要『筑墙』，我们需要跨越障碍。」他并以自己8年内到访中国16次、游历过25座城市的经历称，一些人从没去过中国，「当你亲自去的时候，会消除误解。」

香港大公报报导，第五届中美友城大会3日在江苏苏州举行，来自中国各省市以及美国22个州的各界代表，围绕「共建绿色城市 共享民生福祉」主题，展开积极探讨。大卫．郝伯特出席了开幕式并发表致辞。

会议期间，大卫．郝伯特表示，在当前形势下，增进理解与互信对美中两国至关重要。「增进相互理解有助于我们向彼此学习。这正是能够让我们都受益的友谊。我们不需要『脱钩』，相反我们需要交往。我们不需要『筑墙』，我们需要跨越障碍。我认为两国实现合作共赢，基于相互尊重、和平共处，以及我们共同的发展目标。」

他表示，不仅要通过签署协议创建友城关系，还要持续努力推动友好交流和务实合作，以使友城的合作关系蓬勃发展，成果丰硕，最终惠及人民。

「这是我第16次访问中国，已经去过25个城市了。」细数自己与中国的缘分，大卫．郝伯特说，「我跟中国的缘分从2015年开始，第一次旅行是跟着一个市长代表团，这是一次美妙的经历。次年我又去了一次，我的大部分旅行都是去中国做生意。」

据报导，当谈到此前中美之间存在的一些误解误判，大卫．郝伯特说道，「你对中国有意见，你去过几次？结果他们说从来没有去过中国。所以，如果你不去，你就不知道。人们需要来中国，认识中国。如果你在一开始有任何误解，那么当你亲自去的时候，会消除误解。」在他看来，中美之间应该继续交流，继续会面，继续交换意见。
