译诗一首

子曰

白九 2021.11.15

携子停身大树前,迎蝉礼蚁敬神仙。
子无字句难开口,我有诗书可代言。
仙影依稀皆是道,儿声模糊自成篇。
呢喃说尽乾坤事,无字童声可语天。

 

Speaking

I take him outside
Under the trees
Have him stand on the ground.
We listen to the crickets,蟋蟀
Cicadas蝉, million years old sound.
Ants come by us.
I tell them,
“This is he, my son
This boy is looking at you.
I am speaking for him.”

The crickets, cicadas,
The ants, the millions of years
are watching us,
hearing us.
My son murmurs infant words,
Speaking, small laughter
Bubbles from him.
Three leaves tremble.
They listen to this boy
Speaking for me.
