Broadway Show ONCE

Phil came back from New York and told us that he saw ONCE in Broadway. Phil said it was a beautiful show.

Attached are some info about ONCE. Since I like Irish music and Broadway shows, I guess this would be a show I want to see if I have a chance to go to New York. Btw, Irish pub music is beautiful. By chance I and a few friends went to an Irish pub when we had a getaway event in Baff a couple of years ago. That was a really beautiful and unforgettable experience.

Once is a stage adaptation of the 2006 film of the same name. The book was written by Enda Walsh retaining many of the songs written by Glen Hansardand Markéta Irglová including the Academy award winning "Falling Slowly".

In both the New York Theater Workshop production and the Broadway production, the cast also served as the orchestra. It officially opened on Broadway on March 18th, 2012.

The minimalist set used for the Broadway production was a bar in center stage with chairs lining stage left and right. Exiting cast members simply stepped to the side of the stage and sat down. They served as the orchestra from these chairs. The bar was used at intermission as a working bar for the refreshment of the customers, rather than having a bar upstairs or outside.
