Raising an inquisitive child

(2005-05-20 13:25:39) 下一个

My 11 yo daughter is unusually inquisitive and seems a bit too mature for her age. She likes to read and thinks a lot. She raises plenty of questions. If you do not give assuring answers to her questions, she may become worried. For example, she asks what we should do if we run out of money and dad loses his job? Why do her dumber classmates get more weekly allowance without learning out-of-class lessons than she does with all weekend Chinese and math exercises included? Does it mean we are poor? It seems that raising a highly inquisitive child provides additional challenges for parents, as this kind of kids demand constant attention, assurance and intellectual inputs from their parents, testing the patience of their parents at the same time.
