金陵酒肆留別　李白

 

風吹柳花滿店香，吳姬壓酒勸客嘗。
金陵子弟來相送，欲行不行各盡觴。
請君試問東流水，別意與之誰短長。

 

 

 

Parting at a Tavern in Jinling   Li Bai

 

The tavern’ssweetened when wind blows in willow-down,
A Southern maidenbids the guests to taste the wine.
My dear young friendshave come to see me leave the town,
They drink their cupsand I, still tarrying, drink mine,
O, ask the riverflowing to the east, I pray,
Whether his partinggrief or mine will longer stay!

 

 

 

 

 

芙蓉樓送辛漸 王昌齡 

 

寒雨連江夜入吳，平明送客楚山孤。
洛陽親友如相問，一片冰心在玉壺。

 

Seeing Xin Jian Off at Hibiscus Pavilion  Wang Changling

 

 Along the river thatmerged with a cold rain.
We entered the Wucity late at night.
Early at daybreak Ibid you farewell,
With only the lone Chu Mountainin sight.
If my kinsfolk in Luoyang feel concerned,
Please tell them formy part,
Like a piece of ice acrystal vessel,
Fore’er aloof andpure remains my heart.

 

歲暮歸南山  孟浩然

 

北闕休上書， 南山歸敝廬。
不才明主棄，多病故人疏。
白髮催年老，青陽逼歲除。
永懷愁不寐，松月夜窗虛。

 No more petitionswill I submit at the north palace gate,
Because on South Mountainmy humble hut for me does wait.
As I’m talentless,His Majesty bears me not in mind;
And sickly too, myold friends leave me alone and behind.
My hoary hair urgesme on to my declining years;
New Years’s Eve iscompelled to flee as the green spring nears.
I can’t fall asleep,for my heart turns ever with sorrow;
Through the pineneedles the pale moon shines on the window hollow.

岐王宅裏尋常見，崔九堂前幾度聞。
正是江南好風景，落花時節又逢君。

 At the palatialresidence we often met;
In Courtier’s Hallfor many times I heard you sing.
The Southern sceneryis now not to forget,
But I meet you againwhen flowers part with spring.
