Subject: comments about your article -- A tall order on Yao

Hi Jonathan,

As a long-time loyal Rockets fan, I have cheered with millions of fans around the globe when Rockets got a W, and expressed the anger when Rockets let some games slipped away. However, we all stand tall with the Rockets when facing huge challenges like the one against visiting Trail Blazers tonight.

After reading so many nice articles you have shared with us addressing the Rockets, again I read your latest one printed on Chronicle this morning. Though I concur with most of your points, I do have some comments about your ending sentence: To Yao, those battles are special, even if they no longer inspire the levels of attention they once did.

Over a decade of being an Houstonian, we have experienced many disappointments of Rockets not getting past the first round in playoffs when they were lucky to be there. Yet this year, I see the hope and I believe it\'s for real. Gaining on the surprising success the Rockets have achieved this year (of course without the contribution/distraction from 20M T-Mac), the team is maturing, and stronger than ever. Even though I love all the players on the Rockets roster, being an American myself but native Chinese, the inspiration from all Yao fans is unbelieveable. The attention on Yao from the media might be dim in comparison with the hot MVP candidates (Kobe, LeBron, Dwyane), it\'s the heart of fans like me that matters the most. Not only I will continue cheering for Yao and his teammates, but I will join hundreds of fans from the Yao Ming Fans Club in Toyota Center tonight. We\'ll shout, cheer, or boo, together as a team, and we\'ll stand tall again, by Yao\'s side...

I hope you could drop me a line with your opinions if you value my comments, or even better, we might meet in person. Who knows, it might just be tonight.

Best Wishes,
Mike
