I got a phone call from my best friend Rose last night, we talked nearly two hours about our life, our thinking. I am so glad to hear her happy voice and very impressive by her good thinking.
Rose was a smart little girl in my middle school class. She was always the top student in our shool by her hard working. She was accepted into a very famious University in China when she was only 16 years old. After being 4 years of star student in her component, she went to another best school to continue her post graduate study. Then she got a very good position from a foreign company in Beijing. She went to Canada in the end of 90s and bought a big house in a very good time. Before 2003, her life was very good, she seems get everything without big difficult. High pay job, big house and a healthy good daughter. I thought she deserved all her wealth and reputation, not only because her smart but also for her lots of hard working.
Her nightmare became when her second daughter was 5 months old, the baby was sick and had a very serious convulsion. From then, the baby girl twitched almost every the other day, either on whole body or just legs or arms. Her daughter was diagnosised a very rare disease which could make the baby die at anytime or develop very late than normal child. She was in deep depression in those time and didn't know how to help her daughter. The horror of lost her daughter is so disturbing that she contemplated suicide. At times, life's pain can become so overwhelming that she was tempted to despair. She also went to see the psychoanalysis and took the medician. Good thing is that she had very strong hope to save her baby, she learned lots of medical knowledge about the disease as well as the health of human body. She quit her job, she was stay at home taking care of her dear daughter and studid hard on medical theory. I can't imagine how she lived these years with pain in her heart. We tried our best to help her as friends, but only herself can go through the tragedy with her daughter. To my suprise, she gradually accepted the fact that life is not only getting wealth and respected from others, it includes every thing even the most painful time. Trials make us think, she seems still thinking now, thinking makes us wise; wisdom makes life profitable. Profitable is a colorful life with many happy and sad time.
