在美国如何买与种中国菊花【图】

菊花是北京的市花，也被评为中国十大名花之三。中国已有三千多年的种菊历史，现有菊花3,000种左右。



中国的菊花以形，色的多样化而著称。花朵千姿百态，如丝，若带，似珠，近爪，不胜枚举。花朵五颜六色，深浅各异，可说色色俱全。



人们对菊花有偏爱，也因菊花经春度夏，不畏秋寒而开放的特性，“待到秋来九月八，我花开后百花杀”。菊花被称为花卉“四君子”(梅、兰、竹、菊)之一，有称“宁可枝头抱香死，何曾吹落北风中”，这种高雅傲霜的品质，被仁人志士喻作高尚品德的象征，历来深受中国古代文人的喜欢。至于赏菊，饮酒作诗则更是文人骚客的雅兴了。

美国的菊花种类相对较少，花朵小，色彩也比较单一。



几年前，朋友送了两棵中国菊花，一棵年年都在秋天开花，可惜另一棵墨菊未能成活。

中国菊花一般很容易种，春天插枝分种，无需太多管理，夏天施些肥，养精蓄锐，需到温差较大的秋季才开花。菊花的花期比较长，霜冻前最好移至室内。冬天温度低，可将花枝剪短，不宜过多浇水，次年春天再搬到室外，可以重新发出枝叶生长。

Plant in a sunny, well drained location, incorporate 2 to 4” of peat moss, compost or well-rotted manure. Mums respond well to frequent applications of water soluble fertilizers such as Neptune’s Harvest. Mums are very heavy feeders up to the time the buds are the size of small peas. Mums should not be fertilized after they show color in the fall, fall fertilizing will negatively affect winter hardiness. Trim mums back to within 4-6 inches from the ground after Thanksgiving and apply a protective covering of loose material on the plants after the ground has frozen.
