Big Sur generally means the 90 miles coastline from San Simeon (Hearst Castle) to Monterey. Monterey is about 2 hours driving from San Francisco, or San Simoen is about 4 hours from LA.

This is where land meets ocean, resulting in breath-taking views.

There are various vista points (car parks) along the highway for stopping and viewing.

And there are state parks in Big Sur area: Pfeiffer Big Sur, Andrew Molera, Pfeiffer Beach, Julia Pfeiffer Burns, and Sand Dollar Beach. Parks typically charge $5-8 per car - keep your permit as it's mostly ok for other state parks in the area!

I'll post info and photos for Monterey (inc. the famous 17 mile drive) and Hearst Castle later.

If you're in Califonia, you should go!
