This morning we walked to various Jewish memorial sites with Jess.

1. A random residential building I saw on our walk to Berlin Wall Memorial. I thought the shutters were interesting.

2. Berlin Wall Memorial.

3. Berlin Wall Memorial. The markings on the ground show the location of an underground tunnel that was used by East Berliners to escape to the West.

4. Chapel of Reconciliation.

5. The only guard tower left of the Berlin Wall.

9. Oranienburger Straße S-Bahn station, the first of the ghost stations (stations in East Berlin that West Berlin trains passed through but couldn't stop during the cold war) reopened after the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

10. Oranienburger Straße station.

11. The Neue Synagogue (originally built in 1859–1866) where Albert Einstein played violin in a concert in 1930. The present building is a reconstruction after the collapse of the Berlin Wall.

12. Memorial to the Rosenstraße Protest, a nonviolent protest in Rosenstraße in February and March 1943, carried out by the non-Jewish ("Aryan") wives and relatives of Jewish men who had been arrested for deportation.

13. The Old Jewish Cemetery on Große Hamburger Straße.

After the walking tour ended in early afternoon, I went to Museum Island and visited Bode Museum and the Pergamon Museum with my free time. Both are really good. Pergamon Museum was under a major renovation. The famous Pergamon Altar was closed until late 2019 or early 2020, yet it was still amazing to see the Ishtar Gate of Babylon.

19. Ishtar Gate of Babylon, Pergamon Museum.

20. Market Gate of Miletus, Pergamon Museum.
