十个英语谜语(Riddle)

有的英语谜语必须用英语来思考才能猜得出来。

1)What is that by losing an eye has nothing left but a nose?
  失去一个眼睛则只剩下鼻子的东西是什么?
              Noise
  将“noise”单词里的“i”去掉后成为“Nose”。

2)  What five letter word has six left after you take two letters away?
    五个字母组成的单词去掉其中两个,反而变成了六个的东西是什么?
    将“Sixty”单词里的“ty”去掉后成为“Six”。

3)  Why was Washington buried at Mt. Vernon?
    为什么华盛顿总统被埋葬在巴侬山上?

    Because he was dead(因为他已经死了嘛)

 4)  Why is the number 9 like a peacock?
      数字的“９”好象孔雀一样,为什么?
      Because it is nothing without its tail．
     (因为如果没有尾巴它就什么都不是(和“０”一样了)

５)   What is the longest sentence in the world?
     世界上最长的一篇搏客文章(句子)是什么?（要从英语角度来考虑） 

"Go to prison for life."
     （“无期徒刑”。“sentence”单词除了有“文章”的意思
       还有“判刑”的意思）。 

６）Why is the letter A like noon?
“Ａ”字母好象中午一样,为什么? 

Because it is in the middle of DAY
（“Ａ”在“DAY”（一天）的正中间嘛）!   

７） What is full of holes and yet holds water?
到处是洞口而有能集水的东西是什么? 

a sponge
（海棉）   

8)   What is broken when you name it?
说出你的名字就会遭到打破的东西是什么? 

silence
（静寂）  

9)  What time is it when the clock strikes thirteen?
     时钟打１３次的时候，是什么時候? 

 Time to get a new clock.
（该买新时钟的时候）

(埋在这里的总共只有６人，他们都是亲生的不是近亲结婚)

     Two widows each had a son, and each widow married
     the son of the other and then each had a daughter.

      双方都生了一个女儿的场合)
