感觉普通话的语调把英语的主要语调都包括了。普通话的一声对应于英语的平(升)调（level-risingtone）;普通话的二声对应于英语的升调（risingtone）;普通话的三声对应于英语的降升调（fall-risingtone）;普通话的四声，读快了，就对应于英语的降调（fallingtone）；普通话的四声，读慢了，就可以对应于英语的升降调（rise-fallingtone）。英语语调主要的就是这五种：

从三个方面看语调(intonation)：一个是停顿（pause）；一个是强调音节（emphasis）；最后是语调（tone/intonation: 升，降，降升，升降，平调，等等）。 同样单词组成的一个句子，读的时候如果停顿点不同，停顿长短不同，其意思，或者其传达的信息，就可能不同。
