Sixty Wagons Behind the Fence: How Belarus Is Pre-Building russias Northern Front

Live from Ukraine ??
Maintaining dignity and the freedom to express oneself without yielding to imposed editorial lines requires sacrifices. If we can continue providing you with genuine, on-the-ground news, it isthanks to those who support our fundraiser.
Korosten Belarus is building, piece by piece, the ramp of a second front.
We must say it clearly and precisely:Minsk is erecting a military architecture oriented toward Ukraine and suited to sustaining a future offensive deployment, and it is erecting it before the force that would use it.
The infrastructure already has an offensive configuration, although the invasion force, for now, is still missing. It is precisely this asymmetry that makes the problem serious, because in the war of volumes and flows infrastructure is the slowest element to build: men move in days, munitions in weeks, rail spurs and depots in months if not years. Whoever builds the flows today is therefore laying up an option whose exercise price falls with time, and one that would allow russia to concentrate men, equipment and munitions faster and with less warning than in 2022, when the Allied Resolve exercise covered for weeks, before everyones eyes, the buildup then thrown at Kyiv and Chernihiv.

On June 25, after a report by the Foreign Intelligence Service, Volodymyr Zelenskyidentifiedfive axes along which road infrastructure and depots for munitions and fuel are nearing completion: KobrynKovel, IvanavaManevychi, LuninetsSarny, RechytsaKorosten and HomelChernihiv. Since we have long lived in most of those places and know the terrain well, we consider it our duty to point out the signals they send.
According to Kyiv, russian documents explicitly describe those works as falling within the needs of the war of invasion against Ukraine.
The maps and some construction sites are public, and they show roads built expressly to point straight at Ukraine, or preexisting corridors modernized and expanded with new internal roadways inside military complexes. Axes already oriented toward Ukraine are being upgraded and connected to training grounds, quartering areas and military logistics, with the potential function of reducing friction in the movement of troops, fuel, artillery and munitions.

The most concrete case is the new training ground near Yakimauka, in the Rechytsa district of Homel Oblast, about 41 kilometers in a straight line from the Novaya HutaNovi Yarylovychi border crossing. The technical documentation published by the Community of Belarusian Railwaymendescribesa 1,238-meter spur, 1,158 of them usable, connected to the national network and integrated into the stations shunting system; the spurrunsfrom the station to the training ground, and the border stays, precisely, some forty kilometers away. One stretch will follow an old railway embankment up to 1.3 meters high, unused for about thirty years; the rest requires new grading, drainage, track, aprons and technical networks. Inside the perimeter, a high platform is planned with three side ramps and one end ramp, from which wheeled and tracked vehicles can roll off.The track will be able to hold up to 60 wagons, that is, roughly a military echelon or its main part: the entire train can thus be taken off civilian tracks and brought behind the fence, reducing exposure to observation and allowing personnel, armor, artillery, fuel and munitions to be received directly inside the military area.
Satellite images from July 18 show the cleared corridor and earthworks matching the design, with no operational rails and no first echelons. Yakimauka proves one thing only, and it is already enough:
Minsk is building the permanent point from which a force hostile to Ukraine could be fed and reinforced quickly.
The probable association with the new 37th Air Assault Brigade, now forming in the Homel sector, makesthe node even more relevant, even though the definitive attribution of the training ground to the unit remains an OSINT assessment.

Between August 24 and 26 came a second signal, one that shifts the discussion from logistics to mobilization. The 51st Guards Artillery Brigade, centrally subordinated and based in Asipovichy, was brought to full readiness:the Belarusian Ministry of Defenseannouncedthe mobilization and the fleshing-out of some units to wartime strength, and on August 26 itdocumentedthe arrival of the first reserve officers, whilethe brigades movement to a training ground was still being announced in the future tenseand its final tasks remain classified. The language itself deserves attention: Aleksandr Volfovichsaid:
modern methods of engagement by fire and their command will be tested, incorporating the lessons of the wars in Ukraine and Iran.
It is the normal military lexicon for striking a simulated adversary.
The value of the test lies elsewhere:Minsk is verifying the chain of command, the military commissariats, the recall of reservists, the transition from peacetime to wartime establishments and the ability to field a large artillery formation.A movement of the 51st toward the Ukrainian border remains, to date, undocumented: the available photographs are official, and geolocated convoys, recall figures or concentrations of guns outside the garrison are missing.

On August 22, meanwhile,at least one russian jet-powered S8000 Banderol crossed deep through Belarusian airspace during an attack on Ukraine. Converging reconstructions gathered by Zerkalo and Radio Svabodaindicatea route of about 306 kilometers, with a 120-kilometer penetration into Belarus, before the probable fall near Luchytsy or Kapatkevichy from fuel exhaustion; an aircraft reportedly took off from Baranavichy to intercept it, without success.
Minsk stays silent and no photograph of the wreck has been published: the trajectory carries medium-high confidence, the crash site and the interception only medium. The incident does not prove the weapon departed from Belarusian territory but itprovesthatBelarusian airspace is by now part of the wars operational depth, and that Minsk may be unable to decide or unwilling to be transparent when russian systems cross it.Opacity, for that matter, has grown by subtraction: since February 2025, when the Belaruski Hajun monitoring projectceasedits activity after the compromise of its sources, civilian observation of Belarusian skies and railways has shrunk drastically, precisely as the infrastructure expands.
Let us recall, indeed, thatthe platform has possessed a nuclear component since 2023, because Belarus hosts russian tactical weapons.

Do we actually expect an offensive? Frankly, in planning we must assume it as a concrete possibility:russia may try to reopen the northern front once it has the necessary forces, and the threat, even without an attack, already obliges Ukraine to hold reconnaissance, air defense and ground forces in the north.
The evidence, however, places the attack outside the immediate horizon. As of August 27 the Ukrainian General Staff ruled out, in the Volyn and Polissia sectors, signs of offensive groupings taking shape; the day before, though, the border guardconfirmedthe expansion of training grounds, quartering areas and logistics routes, specifying that nothing has changed in the immediate vicinity of the border; the HURassessedthat the troops and indicators for an offensive from the north are missing today, and thatonly a new russian mobilization could change the picture in the months ahead.
What is missing, in fact, are the signals that would precede an imminent invasion, hard to conceal: large convoys moving south, depots stocked on an operational scale, bridging units, field hospitals, concentrated air defense, a joint command and a substantial mass of russian units.
Our thesis is therefore clear-cut:the Belarusian platform is already operational in its principal effect.
It pins Ukrainian forces on the northern border today, at the cost of brigades subtracted from the active fronts, and hands back to moscow, for tomorrow,an attack option on reduced warning: in practice it is the first dividend the kremlin collects without a single russian soldier crossing the border. The indicators that would turn the option into an immediate threat are known the activation of the Yakimauka spur, the first echelons, the arrival of munitions and fuel on an operational scale, the movement of the 37th Brigade and a verifiable growth of russian forces and until then Kyiv does well to garrisonthe Belarusian front, because this is the price, already exacted, ofa ramp built to open it fast.

In 1.645 days of war, we recorded over 300 videos from ground zero and wrote more than 3,000 articles at least 1,600 in English, and over 1,400 in Italian.
Were doing our best to provide genuine, first-hand reports from zones where almost no press dares to go. This means living in a kill zone constantly. We take the risk, but without your invaluable support, our voices would remain unheard and silent. Without brave people sharing our articles from afar, they would remain unread. Our reports would go unseen, and our efforts would be lost. Theres still a lot of work to do here, as the people around us are also in no better situation.
Were renewing our fundraising campaign and thanking everyone who joins us in helping to restore what Russia is destroying. Moving forward, not even with a small reimbursement for each article we write, is extremely challenging. Thats why we are grateful to all the kind people who support us and trust in our mission.
Even a small donation helps.
Well keep you updated on developments.
Thank you all, dear friends ??
