空山新雨後，天氣晚來秋。
明月松間照，清泉石上流。
竹喧歸浣女，蓮動下漁舟。
隨意春芳歇，王孫自可留。

(Abode In the Mountains at Autumn Dusk)

 

 

The mountains lie serener after rain,

The autumn-tinted dusk veils the terrain.

The bright moonlight threads through the pine trees,

The clear brook flows o’er the rocks once again.

Bamboo rustles; washer maidens return,

Lotus stirs; fishing sampans sail amain.

O let the sweet spring scent fade away,

Here is a dreamlike place I’d fain remain.
