《鹦鹉》—（唐）来鹄

 

色白还应及雪衣，嘴红毛绿语仍奇。

年年锁在金笼里，何似陇山闲处飞。

 

The Parrot by Lai Hu (Tang Dynasty)

Its snowy robe may vie with snow for white,
Red bill, green plumes, it speaks with wondrous might.
Yet year in, year out, locked in a gilt cage,
Why should it not roam o’er Longshan in flight?
