Chill of Fall Felt upon the Journey by Bai Ju-yi
As season shifts, plants wither, wilt withal,
My visage wears more weary marks of age.
As leafage begins to yellow and fall,
My hair greys on such a tedious stage.
Place by place, I fare kin well, one and all,
Mile by mile, I trudge on as though to gauge.
Yet only age and ills upon me sprawl,
Clinging as if to lock me in this cage.
