宿蓬船 – 韦庄

 

夜来江雨宿蓬船，卧听淋铃不忍眠。

却忆紫微情调逸，阻风中酒过年年。

 

Lodging in a Canopy Boat by Wei Zhuang

 

In a roofed boat, on the river, a rainy night,

Hearing the plop-plop, I can’t sleep, bygones in sight.

Recalling the good old days - carefree and unbound,

Since wind bars me, let wine, year by year, numb my plight.
