这篇小小说河边在大约1990年左右就看到过。在2007年已经很难在网上搜到了，河边专门写了一篇博文把它记录下来。现在，除了在河边的那篇博文里，它更是消失得无影无踪。我觉得它挺有意思的，用Gemini把它翻译成英文，大致看了看，翻译得还不错，就放在这里，继续留个种。年轻人谈恋爱，有时候真说不清是谁追的谁，谁赚了谁亏了。这就是我对这篇小小说的解读，几十年前是这么解读的，现在还是这么解读的。

　　“噢，对不起！”
　　“没关系，以后走路小心一点就好！”
　　这是哪条道儿上的小姐，讲话这么大不咧咧的？我借着银幕明亮时转头瞧瞧。还不错，五官端正。嘴角带一丝笑，却正襟坐着。这倒出乎意料，不是胖而嘴大的那一型。
　　“檀越从何入来？
　　从来的地方来！
　　到何处去？往去的地方去。
　　檀越自来自去，白云空往空回。”
　　“好词！”她说。
　　“你很喜欢神捕吗？”我的舌头有点打结。
　　“那当然，光听这几句禅语就值票价。”
　　“难道你不为喜欢它而来？”一会儿，她问。有挑战味道。
　　“当然不。因为我的朋友送了我一张票，不得不来捧场。你知道林阿花吗？就是那个编剧，兼改写《山中传奇》的小女生？”
　　“你的意思是说林阿花是女孩子？”
　　“你真‘菜’！林阿花根本就是男的，他也只改写《山中传奇》，并没有编剧！”
　　“真是笑死人！打个赌如何？我赌林阿花是个女生。”
　　“可以。”
　　之后，我们赌过电影、晚饭、咖啡、原地跑步……悲哀的是我全输了。
　　前天，我们订婚了。
　　“哈哈，你真‘菜’！竟然上了我的圈套，你以为我真的不晓得林阿花吗？”“哈哈哈，你才够‘菜’你以为你真的踢到我的脚了吗？是我故意伸出去的！”

What kind of girl talks so boldly and casually? I turned my head to steal a glance when the movie screen lit up. Not bad. Nice features. She sat up straight with a faint smile on her lips. It was unexpected; she wasn't the loud, chubby type I had imagined.

"Where does the benefactor come from?
From whence I came!
Where is the benefactor heading?
To where I am bound.
The benefactor comes and goes of his own accord, while the white clouds drift back and forth in vain."

"Great lines!" she said.
"Do you really like The Divine Detective?" I asked, my tongue tying up a bit.
"Of course. Just hearing those Zen verses is worth the price of admission."
"Didn't you come here because you like it too?" she asked a moment later, a hint of challenge in her voice.
"Of course not. A friend gave me a free ticket, so I had to come show some support. Do you know Lin Ah-hua? You know, that young girl who wrote the screenplay and adapted Legend of the Mountain?"
"Are you saying Lin Ah-hua is a girl?"
"You are so green! Lin Ah-hua is totally a guy. And he only adapted Legend of the Mountain, he didn't write the screenplay!"
"That's hilarious! Want to make a bet? I bet Lin Ah-hua is a girl."
"You're on."

After that, we bet on movies, dinners, coffees, and running in place... The sad thing is, I lost every single time.

The day before yesterday, we got engaged.

"Haha, you are so green! You totally fell into my trap. Did you really think I didn't know who Lin Ah-hua was?"
"Hahaha, you're the one who's green! Did you really think you just happened to trip over my foot? I stuck it out on purpose!"
