This message is for that unknown person, or who ever thinks pinkhouses is sweet. I have lived there 23 years then moved pinkhouses is horrible shootings, murder, drivebys, people set on fire , drug dealing, prostitution, and everything else, I know first hand don't tell me nothing. I remember so many crack viles on the side of the buildings looking lime somebody dropped a bag of skittles, i know murderers, that walk alongside jehovas witnesses, I remember freshman day we at is 218 we had all out brawls with cypress hills, fighting in the middle of the highway, and for the person who said they love that place, I will pray for you, or over you.

All the young people 8 to 10 years under me wanted to be drug dealers and killers. Then it progressively got worse. After the world trade center was demolished in 9/11 Pink Houses was out of control.

we heard of a mother of three children, returning from her birthday party,to her home at the pink houses got herself murdered inside the elevator at her building. her family is preparing to file a lawsuit against the housing authority for failer to protect tenants in a known criminal infested apartments complex.

I lived in the pink houses for years....seen crazy shit....the locks in the building I lived in never worked.....I had 2 cars stolen right from the building parking lot.....I've seen people get shot....friends of mine robbed for their jewelry in the building lobby....halloween in the pink houses was crazy......you would get hit with batteries, slapped with a sock full of quarters and hard boiled eggs....so if you think pink houses is not the worst projects is because nothing has happened to you or a loved one yet....you'll think differently when it hits home. you may be poor, but you don't have to urinate in the elevators and cover the hallways with graffiti and garbage in the place where you live, no amount of money can change that. You don't have to give refuge to the thugs that rob and beat your grandmother for her S.S check, that's not being an informer........that's "taking out the garbage".

I grew up here for the 1st 17 years of my life. Luckily for me I went away to college and never came back to live. I remember being a little kid playing in the park and when I heard gunshots, I knew to get down. It was normal to see tons of crack vials and watch people fight outside like hooligans every summer. Not to mention the gigantic cockroaches! This is not something that is normal for any child growing up.

BROOKLYN — A 28-year-old man was shot and killed outside a public housing complex in East New York early Friday, the NYPD reported.The victim, who police identified Sunday as Dupree Gowins, was shot in the head and leg behind the Louis H. Pink Houses on 2630 Linden Blvd. just before 1:45 a.m., police said. Residents said they heard about five or six shots.

Pink Houses is something else now but back in the days it was great!!!. I lived in PH since the age of 7 and lived there for about 30 years and i,ve seen so much crap go on i could probably write a damn book. We the tenants of the bldg kept it clean and worthwhile living,we had a beautiful garden in front the hall ways were clean and we even sold candy and soda out the room downstairs. There was no hanging in the hallways or Mr Pop on the second floor would come out and start pouring bleach and amonia to keep you out!!. I lived in a 2 parent household and my father took no shit from neither me or my brother we had rules and that included bring your ass in when that bldg light come on which was about 8:00pm if not it was hell to pay and i,d rather sand paper a lions ass in a telephone booth than deal with my father!! I,ve seen crack viles, gun shells casing i seen a dead body coming down the 5th floor stairs, i remember going to TSS for 5 min and coming back hearing that a sweet boy that lived next door to me was shot and died some days later, and most tragic for me running downstairs because my own brother was shot 7 times. So yes it was a time but through it all i still maintained my education, self respect, pride for me and my only daughter that born and raised there also although i had plenty of friends that went left doing whatever and knew to go right nad believe me it was respected til this very day. My reason for saying all of this is because a couple of people stated it's what you make of it and yes if you start standing alone apart from the people who choose to do wrong then your a winner and maybe someone else will take notice and do the same.Learn to use your indivduality it's yours it was given to you, use your ingenuity to invent something our brothers wait until they get locked up to start using their creative mind frame but it was so difficult to do that while your free. The projects is what you make it and when people wake up and see that it is us just us that make THE PJ'S what it is then maybe it will change when we start making a change where we rest our heads just maybe these landlords, and housing authority people will take it serious. And last but not please let stop bad talking about where we come because everywhere is bad from richest to the poorest everybody got a story especially in the PROJECTS!!!

I live in ph and have live here for a long time. The killers are getting younger and younger. New years eve a 21 year old was shot in the head on cave man side and died. Over the years I have seen so many young boys that I care about die or go to jail and its sad. I work everyday and my rent is 800 I would love to move but its so expensive everywhere else. Its a messed up situation but the reality is this is home for some of us until we get out. It could be worse I could be homeless.

I grew up in the Pink Housing Projects for the first 13 years of my life. I remember Times Square Store, City-Line, and taking the "A" train on Grant Ave. I attended PS 224 (Hale A. Woodruff), during the 1980s.

In April of 1989, after watching a rap show called "Pump it up", I looked outside the window from apartment 2D inside 2726 Linden Blvd. and saw a man running outside the entrance doors. Soon afterward, shots rang out. The man who ran outside instantly fell and shortly after that, two men approached the fallen man and shot him five times killing him cold blood. The assassins fired five more shots into the air as a gesture of boasting.

Born and raised in Pink Houses, hard times as a kid. Living in building 8, used to hear gun shots, saw many people get jumped, bullet flew through my bedroom window and even saw a guy get shot in the head crossing the street (mistaken identity). Yes it was hard and tough growing up and it makes you look at life in another perspective. Totally agree its the WORSE PROJECT EVER!!
