You're referencing a mix of characters and storylines from several historical drama TV series centered on ancient Rome, particularly:
Main Characters:
Titus Pullo (you mentioned as your favorite) – portrayed by Ray Stevenson.
Lucius Vorenus – Pullo’s counterpart and fellow soldier.
Atia of the Julii – known as Mother Atia, fictionalized mother of Octavian.
Gaius Octavian – the young future emperor Augustus.
Mark Antony – a central political and military figure.
Themes: Power struggles, civil war, transformation of the Roman Republic into the Empire.
Notable for: Gritty realism, complex politics, and personal drama.
Quote connections:
"Octavian would grow up to be the greatest statesman" → this tracks his rise to Augustus.
"Mother Atia vs. Octavian is strong as an ox" → their complex mother-son dynamic.
"That boy had a wise mother" and references to buying a virgin girl → likely a fictionalized or dramatized subplot from later episodes.
A separate series set during the Renaissance, not ancient Rome.
The name Borgia appears in your notes, but it’s not part of HBO’s Rome.
Possibly mentioned for thematic comparison – both involve political ambition, family drama, and power.
You mention Podrick Payne (you wrote "Podric") and Tywin Lannister – both characters from Game of Thrones.
You seem to be comparing Pullo to Tywin as top-tier favorite characters.
The reference to Podrick Payne alongside “The Emperor of Rome” is likely metaphorical—mixing modern pop culture with ancient drama.
TV Series | Characters Referenced | Notes |
---|---|---|
Rome (HBO) | Titus Pullo, Lucius Vorenus, Atia, Octavian (Augustus), Mark Antony | Historical fiction set during fall of Roman Republic |
Borgia | Rodrigo Borgia, Cesare, Lucrezia (not directly related to ancient Rome) | Political drama in Renaissance Italy |
Game of Thrones | Podrick Payne, Tywin Lannister | Used for comparison—strong characters, power plays |
If you're thinking of writing or analyzing a crossover, mashup, or comparison piece—like "Pullo vs. Tywin" or "Octavian vs. Lannister kingship"—I'd love to help shape that. Want to explore that angle?

Octavian would grow up to be the greatest statesman of all time, and one whose rule was marked by a restoration of public morality.

No wonder that older Octavian was so prudish and made whole acts of law about it. He was just sick of roman debauchery at his youth lol https://youtube.com/shorts/YVgfCvdrPX0?si=DczLtiWOziZASRU2 @kdog543

That boy had a wise mother. In this series i watched later on Octavian fall for her and forced his Queen mom to buy her from the whorehouse, for she was a special virgin girl, why her price was 100 times more then a basic girl and then i think her cost was 30 times that i think or 3k forget exactly
