罗马书第五章第6—9节，保罗说惟有耶稣基督在我们还作罪人的时候为我们死，神的爱就在此向我们显明了。这是因为即使是为义人，可能有敢为的但也很少有人愿意为其而死的，而耶稣在我们还软弱的时候，就按所定的日期为我们这些罪人而死了。这样我们靠着耶稣在十字架上流的血称义，就免去了神对我们的忿怒，从而成为神的儿女，有永生。

罗5:6 因我们还软弱的时候、基督就按所定的日期为罪人死。
For while we were yet weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.
罗5:7 为义人死、是少有的、为仁人死、或者有敢作的。
For one will hardly die for a righteous man. Yet perhaps for a righteous person someone would even dare to die.
罗5:8 惟有基督在我们还作罪人的时候为我们死、 神的爱就在此向我们显明了。
But God commends his own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
罗5:9 现在我们既靠着他的血称义、就更要借着他免去 神的忿怒。
Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we will be saved from God's wrath through him.
