几年前在内地流行的歌曲 " 卷珠帘 " 的前半段，很像英国民歌Scarborough Fair 的曲调 。

这首民谣在中世纪时，便在英国的乡村流行。最初是在英国东北部一个海边小镇叫做 Scarborough的传唱开来，歌词作者姓名不详。

Scarborough Fair在中业纪的英伦岛上，是非常有名的集市，有点像内地的广交会。据说是由英国国王亨利三世时期开始，即从1253年开始。买卖汇集英国各地的货物，客户甚至有从挪威，丹麦等国家来的。每年从8月15日开始，集市贸易长达45天, 集市在1788年结束。

曾经有过辉煌的历史的Scarborough, 如今是很安静的小镇，而这首民歌至今还在传唱。

在1963, 美国著名的歌手Bob Dylon, 曾将这首民谣改编成歌曲：" Girl From The North Country " 。

两年后的1965年，美国歌手Paul Simon 去英国旅游时，听到这首民歌。第二年和搭档Garfunkel一起，将这首民谣灌录唱片发行，从此这首民歌传遍全世界，

顺便说一下，在上世纪的六十年代，Paul Simon 和他的搭档Garfunkel , 是美国著名的民歌歌手。他俩合作的最有名的歌是：" The Sound of Silence "
