There is a new tax law called “Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act” (FATCA). This law requires that property managers, banks, investment companies and businesses get a special tax return (Form W-8 series) from foreign investors. If they don’t receive this form, they are instructed to withhold 30% of the rents they receive or they will face a penalty themselves. |
