Nascent Scent

waves and waves arrived

through the mirror on the wall

becoming falls and falls

coming down with flowers and flowers

i walked past a street bench

a raincoat dangled around the lamppost

waving and waving

a dog was following my shadow

i was following the scent of a swimming suit

the night was quiet and chilly

the theater, the bar, the café

thick with rhymed silence and seasoned faces

a cable car was sliding downhill

with a burst of giggles and a sea of kisses

into the mist, the shoreline, the ocean

i felt like crying

a soft cry that nobody could hear but my heart
