一个女子出门见到她房前的草地上坐着三个长须皑皑的老者。女子说:" 我跟你们素昧平生，但你们一定饿了。请进屋里吃点东西吧”。
“你的先生在家吗？”老者们问道。“他出门不在家。”女子答道。“那我们不能进屋”。老者们拒绝了女子的好意。
傍晚，先生外出归来，女子告诉他三位老者的事。“去告诉他们我回来了，请他们进来吧”。女子来到外面请老者们进屋。
“我们不同时进入一间屋子的。”老者们告诉她。
“为什么呢？” 女子好奇地问道。
其中的一位老者指着他的两位朋友之一道：“他叫财富”，然后指着另一位说，“他叫成功”， 最后指着自己说，“我叫爱心。” 接着，他对女子说：“进屋和你先生商量一下，你们想请我们中的哪一位进屋。”
女子进屋向先生转述了老者的话。她的先生闻言大喜：“太好了，我们请财富进来吧！ 让他把我们的房子装满钱财。”女子不同意：“我们请成功吧。”他们的儿媳正在屋子的另一角听着他们的对话，此时插嘴：“请爱心岂不是更好？ 这样我们家里就充满了爱。”“我们听儿媳的吧，”先生对太太说，“去请爱心进来。”
女子来到屋外问三位老者：“你们中哪位是爱心？请您进屋来做我们的客人吧。”爱心起身朝着屋里走去，另两位老者紧随其后。
女子惊讶地问成功和财富：“我只邀请了爱心。你们两位怎么也要进屋呢？”
老者们齐声答道：“如果你邀请了财富或成功中的一位，我们中的另两位就都得留在屋外；但是你邀请了爱心--他的所到之处我们必定跟随。有爱的地方，成功和财富形影相随。”
A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat."
"Is the man of the house home?", they asked. "No", she replied. "He's out." "Then we cannot come in", they replied.
In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened. "Go tell them I am home and invite them in!" The woman went out and invited the men in"
"We do not go into a House together," they replied. "Why is that?" she asked. One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."
The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!", he said. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!" His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?" Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!" "Let us heed our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband to his wife. "Go out and invite Love to be our guest."
The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest." Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?"
The old men replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success!!!!!!"
