洪都拉斯境内的科潘小镇（Copan Ruinas）曾经是玛雅王国的首都，是当时文化和宗教活动的中心，1980年被列入世界遗产名录。探索玛雅文化作为我们这次旅行的主题之一，科潘玛雅遗址是我们不应错过的地方。

凌晨3点多钟，我们从危地马拉的古城安提瓜出发，途径危地马拉城，跨过边境，在中午前抵达了洪都拉斯境内的科藩小镇。

It was a smart decision that we started our journey at 3:30am today so that we arrived Copan before noon, otherwise it could easily take us 12 hours to get Copan, as the traffic is notoriously bad.

Copan Ruinas，still isn't a tourist town, which I am selfishly happy for. its economy mainly depend on coffee, cocoa，etcs.

After we checked in in the hotel, some of us couldn't wait and went to the archeology site this afternoon, while I decided first to visit a tea and chocolate house, see the ruins tomorrow morning.

庭院内正在盛开的 Jade flower。女主人告诉我们，这花一年只开一次，花期约为二周。我们很幸运来时正好遇到开花季节。

情趣与雅致，天然与精致，在这里都得到了体现。一天的长途奔波后来这里饮茶赏景，小憩片刻，也可解除疲惫。

科潘是玛雅文明最重要的地点之一。大约在公元前2世纪，科潘就已经是玛雅王国的首都，在公元5世纪到9世纪到达鼎盛。然后同其他各个玛雅城邦一样，突然衰落并被彻底遗弃在丛林之中，直到19世纪这座荒城才被挖掘出来。

被挖掘出来科潘玛雅遗址中包括金字塔、祭坛、广场、6 座庙宇、石阶、36 块石碑和雕刻等等，全是瑪雅世界的精品。如今它横列在我们眼前，就像汪洋中一艘破碎的船，它的桅杆不见了，船员也消失了，谁也不知它何时而来，也不知摧毁它的是何物，一切都是谜。漫步在谜一般的废墟中，我忍不住在想，即使一个文明的消失，世界依旧在前进。还有什么不能崩溃的，个人，国家，民族，文化，任何崩溃都是新生的机会，我们无需担忧崩溃。

Today we will travel from Honduras to El Salvador. Before leaving for El Salvador, we visited the World Heritage-listed ruins of Copan, the remnants of the southernmost of the great Maya sites for which Central America is famous. Unique because of the numerous elaborate stelae – carved columns – still intact on site, there are also temples, excavated vaults and walls inscribed with ancient faces. A stroll through this old-world capital is bound to leave me pondering the adbrupt collapse of such a creative civilisation.
