I have just finished the movie “Julie and Julia”, and boy, I should have seen it earlier! What a fantastic piece. This is just what I needed at this moment. My life is going to take me on a whole new journey, finishing school in a few weeks, looking for a job, just getting engaged and turning 40 in 4 months. It’s a lot of excitement but I’m feeling both a bit nervous, and a little overwhelmed.  I needed something to make me relax and feel good about life.

Sometimes you hate Hollywood movies, but most of time you absolutely love them. “Julie and Julia” is one of the most enjoyable movies I have seen in a long time. It made me wonder how little normal pieces of life can turn into a big surprise. You probably cook more than you make love. Cooking is such a trivial part of life, at least to me. I don’t know how this absolutely boring piece of life turned Julia Child into an icon, a celebrity, and most importantly, an inspiration to many people. Tonight, she captured me.

Julie, a young girl was turning 30 in the movie, just like most ordinary women on this planet. She was just like you and I; working, cooking, and maintaining a family, taking the subway to work everyday and coping with a boring and stressful job. However, at the end of the day, she found something to do, to enjoy, and to learn. I’m sure she probably didn’t expect in the beginning that she would not only learn to cook, she would also learn to enjoy and appreciate life.

The absolutely lovable line in the movie was “She is the butter to my bread and the breath to my life”!

Tomorrow morning, I will make a French omelet for Kevin just like I learned from Julia Child!

Bon appétit! Life is good!

(I can't help writing this post in English, I am not sure if Chinese can fully express how I felt about this movie.Especially, with meryl streep's funny strange English, writing in English was the only thing on my mind.)
