五月十四号克利夫兰报纸 The Plain Dealer 贴出这幅漫画，在一些华人团体和许多个人的压力下，一天后漫画被撤下。今天（五月十八号，星期天）报纸登载了题为“漫画侮辱了华人”的两篇读者来信：

同时，编辑给华人组织的负责人写了这个电子邮件，表达了她个人的歉意。

Dear xxx,
Thank you for your note. We have received many phone calls and emails today on this subject and have removed the cartoon from the web site.

I very much regret that people have taken offense about the cartoon, or believe — wrongly — that Jeff does not care about the suffering in China. To the contrary, Jeff cares deeply, and it was from that impulse that he drew the cartoon in the first place.  But he realizes now that he caused great hurt by using a natural disaster to make a political point.

You have my personal apology that you and many others were upset by this matter. Please know that we take your complaints very seriously.

编辑同时提到漫画作者收到了很多中国人写来的谩骂邮件。星期一编辑部会开会讨论这件事情。现在的问题是，我们应该怎么办？

有的朋友认为我们已经收到道歉了，这件事可以画上句号了。

有的朋友认为我们应该给报纸更大的压力，要求报纸和作者公开道歉。

有的朋友认为我们应该要求报纸登出我们的公开信，让更多的美国人听到华人的声音。

如果你有什么想法，比如要求作者和报纸公开道歉，或者告诉他们中国政府这次在地震后到底做了什么，或者希望多登华人的来信，下面是一些联系信息。

如果你觉得谩骂能让美国人改善对华人和中国的印象，请骂他们几句；如果你觉得光靠谩骂是没用的，请考虑你的措辞和语气，在敲“送出”键之前不妨稍稍停顿一下。
