Washington, D.C., formally the District of Columbia, also known as Washington or D.C. or locally simply as the District, is the capital city and federal district of the United States. It is located on the east bank of the Potomac River, which forms its southwestern border with the state of Virginia, and shares a land border with the state of Maryland on its other sides. The city was named for George Washington, a Founding Father and the first president of the United States, and the federal district is named after Columbia, the female personification of the nation. As the seat of the U.S. federal government and several international organizations, the city is an important world political capital. It is one of the most visited cities in the U.S., with over 20 million annual visitors as of 2016.
在舒适的酒店住上一晚后,次日( 12月14日 )一早,我们又出发去著名景点“风之洞”( Cave of the Winds )观赏尼亚加拉大瀑布的日间景象。“风之洞”是瀑布的观景点之一,必须先乘电梯下到53米深处,然后每人穿上简易雨衣,再观看此处的瀑布,只见该处路旁的树枝上,结满了冰,好一派雾凇景象!天气虽很冷,但很开心。
American Falls,Bridal Veil Falls,Horseshoe Falls,白色天堂,在观景台看完三个瀑布后,我们顺着河缓缓前行,在导游的引领下,探源溯流。
