italian job, bourn ultimatum and motorcycle diary

i was told that the italian job is a cool/good movie but i never watched it until last night.

i think it's better than the ocean 10+'s.

and what a cast! mark warlberg, ed norton and that jason guy. they aren't lookers but they are all attractive. and i like the end when charlize theron wears her little pony tail and walks away thin thin. what a dandy!

the same director and hopefully the same cast will have a sequel called brazilian job which will open next year. i'm all anticipations.

------------------------

a few weeks ago we went to see the bourn ultimatum and EP became the bona fide bourn victim. before i tell you how that happened, let me first sing LOUD praises of the bourn series.

i love love love this series. i sure hope that it will continue because it's getting better and better.

it's lean and mean. little plot, even less talk but a lot of punches and kicks that kill everyone but bourn. escapism.

i get so tired of those old-fashioned action flicks like 007/jack chan movies where fights are long and trivial. people punch each other for hours but at the end, no body dies! i get bored and then outraged. i demand dead people - graphically and expediently damaged with least amount of blood material. i'm not here to appreciate the fake martial arts. and if i dont see results, i want my money back.

one other thing i cant stand about these movies is that. the bad buy, on the verge of having the total irrevocable victory, always feels the sudden, screen-writer imposed urge to talk. Relentlessly until the good guy comes up with some unfathomable moves to get out of the pinch. apparently they have never read this masterpiece: the practical guide to being a baddie: kill your opponents first and then talk to their corpses.

now back to the bourn victim. it started with me.

because we went the opening weekend, the cinema was packed. we had people sitting aplenty on either side of us. so we were watching trailers and out of blue i started to panic. a huge anxiety hit me - "what if i want to use the bathroom. people will hate me for interrupting the movie." the worries were so realistic i started to sweat. it got so bad i couldnt concentrate on watching the trailers (and just an fyi typically i really enjoy watching trailers and sometimes when the "feature presentation" stinks, trailers become the highlight of the movie experience). EP tried to tell me jokes etc. to distract me but i was miserable.

then bourn started. and i no longer worried about my phantom need to pee. then EP took the turn to suffer the bourn.

not sure if you noticed, this bourn as well as the last bourn movie were shot using hand-held cameras. the shots were unsteady. it was okay if people were in action however when they stood/sat still, the picture really jittered. poor EP, 20 minutes into the movie, he started feeling nausea. he actually had to walk out during the middle of the movie to puke in the restroom. and because of the heartless me, he had to come back in and sat through the rest of the movie with his eyes closed. [ i offer my most sincere and profound apologies honey! : ( ]

needless to say, he's none too pleased so i declare him the genuine bourn victim.

really good movie though!

also watched the motorcycle diary lately. i quite like it. i hope to get the soundtrack too.
