“She felt her son’s dream of being accepted into the American lifestyle was a falsehood.
The response to Vincent’s death mirrored the invisibility of Asian-Americans as a civil force.
The judge referred to the death of Vincent Chin as nothing more than a tragic end to a bar fight. This sent a message that even if you were assimilated and spoke without an accent, you still were not looked upon as true American worthy of equal rights.”

“After watching this film, anger would best describe how I feel towards the judicial system in this case. The trial was unfair and unjust. Vincent Chin’s life was depicted as unimportant, even by the judge who tried the case. The two men who committed this crime were rid of any responsibility as far as his death. It brings into question, how many times does this actually happen in today’s society? I believe the answer to that is simple, too much!”
