for general market, reading chart is often enough, since 1, nobody can manipulate the whole market, 2, indeed pretty much everything and everyone\'s move are discounted altogether,
for individual stocks, the best way is to study its E from ER reports, PE is a function of E itself and how E changes (growth), and the general market sentiment,
once you know E\'s are growing, and market sentiment is low, like 2 months ago, then that\'s time to buy. And out when sentiment changes to greed, ie, when PE is high.
so that\'s so very simple, buy low, sell high...
