The concept of this poem\'s been rattling around in my craw for literally years. It\'s my defense of a logical, compassionate life rather than a fearful dogmatic one. Enjoy!
My Mind is My Own
My mind is my own.
I am an adult, and can be trusted to think and act like one.
My mind is my own.
My mind is free to think and decide for itself. It is not fettered by the chains of prejudice and fear.
My mind is my own.
I will solve life\'s problems by logic and reason, my mind unfettered by useless and needless religious dogma.
My mind is my own.
I will face the world with courage, knowing it is better to live life on my feet today than on my knees in prayer hoping for a
better tomorrow.
My mind is my own.
I will face the world with not only courage but with hope,
improving it so that my children and theirs can have a better,
brighter tomorrow.
My mind is my own.
I will help my fellow man whenever possible, unfettered by prejudical and dogmatic thoughts and emotions.
My mind is my own.
