Each Almost A Dream Precisely
[2nd version]
in its own way
pulls closer & closer
towards love's destination
while searching for
the exact appletree
on which your transparent
lips burnt
each almost a dream precisely
because the imagined sky
separates day from night
while love keeps
laboring
love labors
like a farm hand
turning over the dark soil
before burying the seeds, or
feeding the thankless animals
before feeding the thankless beast
and dream!
the river too long to distinguish
its source from its destination
and what's floating away
is mere reflections on the flowing surface
what stays is buried deep
under night's river
each morning the tide falls
as we rise to walk solemnly on a dry bank:
searching is hard work
but can be a pleasant one, if
you don't expect too much
from the appletree that burns
with a kiss
