Linear Transducers

Spectral broadening is created in the Doppler signal by the manner in which sampling is performed with linear transducers.

The same red blood cells are detected as they pass by each element of the transducer. Different angles are produced between the target and each element of the transducer. Different values are calculated for each angle in the Doppler equation and a range of velocities result. This is referred to as intrinsic spectral broadening.
