The song is written by June Carter and Merle Kilgore. June Carter went on her tour with Johnny Cash in 1962. The song was originally recorded by June's talented sister Anita on her album Ring Of Fire (1962). Then, Johnny Cash heard the song and had a dream in which he had heard Mexican horns on the record. ( can you tell it in the attached song below:). He then recorded it in March 1963 (with Mother Maybelle and the Carter Sisters singing harmony) and it became an international hit for him. It is said June Carter wrote the lyrics about her relationship with Johnny Cash *_*.
Love is a burning thing and it makes a fiery ring bound by wild desire I fell in to a ring of fire... I fell in to a burning ring of fire I went down, down, down and the flames went higher. And it burns, burns, burns the ring of fire the ring of fire. The taste of love is sweet when hearts like ours meet I fell for you like a child oh, but the fire went wild.. I fell in to a burning ring of fire.....etc
