Hi, Peter,

I am happy to receive your New Year Greeting s . Before I report my progress, let me send you best wishes from Edinburgh.

I am also happy to let you know that I have made progress in both areas. Actually, the two are closely related.

I clearly see the differences between symbols and contents. One morning I went out, I saw the so-called leaves falling down, so-called human beings walking on so-called street, so-called cars making so-called sound. I also noticed the season was changing gradually. I wondered whether we divide so-called a year into 4 so-called seasons, no more any less. Everything was so fresh as if I had just arrived in this interesting world. This mental change has profound influence on my research. I realise that all the physical concepts are pure human inventions for certain purposes. Detaching thinking entities from language increases greatly the freedom of thinking.

I also see the differences between wishes, hopes and reality. Reality is independent from our wishes, hopes. I am surprise d how I and many others get sturbone at it. Sometimes we are blind at facts no matter how many times the reality teaches us. Now I start to listen, inwardly and outwardly.

I also realise there is no static happiness. Our emotions, feelings are part of nature. They evolve for certain reasons, like seasons. Holding on happiness and resisting experiencing other emotions cause unnecessary pain.

I am more aware of human nature, a combination of individual and social animals . This is the base of ethic and tradition. Nothing is divine. There is no dogma.

All in all, the seeds you planted in my mind several years ago have grown out of the ground. I know there is no end of self-development. But now I find the way, a solid road I can trust.

I reread some of our letters and talks weeks ago. More than ever I appreciate your patience and tolerances. Thanks sincerely.

Happy New Year!
